Description
Documented by VarietyVista, this 1942-D Wheat Cent carries die markers UVC-114 / DMR-007 tracking a die progression where secondary mintmark visibility diminishes across die states. Stage A at EDS shows a medium secondary mintmark and light die gouges above the right wheat stem. Stage B at MDS reveals the secondary mintmark weakened from medium to weak, with the reverse at MDS. Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The progressive weakening from medium to weak documents how continued production wear gradually erased the remnant impression, meaning earlier die state specimens show more pronounced RPM evidence. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams with a 19.05 mm diameter. Struck at the Denver Mint in 1942 during wartime conditions.
