Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this 1941-S Lincoln Wheat Cent shows an S/S South displacement on a bronze cent from the San Francisco Mint. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID: 1941-S 1¢ WRPM-017. Die markers include a die scratch from the upper right of the U in TRUST to the lower left of the S in TRUST on the obverse, and a die scratch going SSE from the left inside center of the M in UNUM on the reverse. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc at 3.11 grams, each working die received its S mintmark through manual punch application at Philadelphia before shipment to San Francisco for production.
