Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this pre-war 1941-S Lincoln Wheat Cent from the San Francisco Mint bears the 15th documented Wexler repunched mintmark for the date. Die markers: obverse has a die gouge (dot) centered under the bowtie; reverse shows a die scratch at the top left of the right wheat stalk, a die crack along the left edge of the wheat lines, and a die gouge (dot) inside the upper portion of the right wheat lines. The reverse wheat stalk markers — scratch, crack, and gouge in close proximity — create a distinctive three-point identification cluster. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1941-S was struck in the last full year before U.S. entry into World War II.
