1941 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-020

Description

A proof-only variety, the 1941 Lincoln Wheat Cent DDO-020 displays medium spread as an extra horizontal bar above the right side of the last T of TRUST — mirroring but differing from the left-side bar seen on DDO-015 and DDO-0016 from the same year. Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-1492 with die marriage DMR-022, this variety was also struck from a Full T over Broken T hub, but the spread manifests on the opposite side of the T's crossbar, indicating a different directional component to the hub misalignment. The earliest and mid die states remain unconfirmed, while the late die state shows both obverse and reverse in advanced deterioration. Proof Lincoln Wheat Cents from 1941 were struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a mintage of 21,100 proof sets, and varieties from these small proof runs are inherently scarcer than their business-strike counterparts. The right-side positioning of the extra bar provides a clear diagnostic that distinguishes DDO-020 from the left-side variants.
