1941-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

Exhibiting a D/D Rotated Clockwise repunched mintmark, this 1941-D Jefferson Nickel RPM-004 shows the secondary D turned slightly clockwise from the primary — a rotational displacement rather than the directional shifts seen in east-west or north-south RPMs. Cataloged by VarietyVista with codes UVC-493 and DMR-005, this variety arose when the die sinker's D punch was oriented at a different angle on the second blow. Struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at Denver, the 1941-D predates wartime silver composition by one year. Die progression covers three states: Stage A (EDS), Stage B (MDS), and Stage C with obverse and reverse in LDS. As RPM-004, the rotated clockwise displacement separates it from RPM-001 (D/D West) and other directional varieties. Rotational RPMs are less common in catalogs than linear displacements, making this a noteworthy attribution for collectors pursuing the complete RPM population.
