Error
Description
With a D/D South displacement documented by VarietyVista, this 1936 Denver Mint Buffalo Nickel carries die markers UVC-182 / DMR-013. Three stages: Stage A EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B reverse and obverse MDS; Stage C LDS (unconfirmed). The cataloger requests new color, high-magnification digital photographs. The 12th cataloged RPM for the 1936-D indicates a diverse variety population from the penultimate year of Buffalo Nickel production, as the Jefferson Nickel replaced the series in 1938. Fraser's design was struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm. The 1936-D had a mintage of approximately 24.8 million, the highest Denver mintage in the series' final years, providing a large die population from which these twelve or more RPM varieties emerged through systematic collector searching and careful mintmark examination.
