Description
The 1935-S Buffalo Nickel RPM-007 is an S/S East repunched mintmark variety documented by VarietyVista under die tracking codes UVC-160 and DMR-011. The initial mintmark punch was placed, then repunched to the east, with the ghost of the first impression visible to the west of the final position. Three die stages have been identified: Stage A (EDS), Stage B (MDS), and Stage C (LDS). The San Francisco Mint struck Buffalo Nickels in 1935 at mintage levels that had modestly recovered from the Depression-era troughs of 1930–1932. S-mint Buffalo Nickels from the mid-1930s frequently display mintmark-related varieties owing to the hand-punching method used during this era, making RPM listings like this one a fertile area for specialist collectors. New high-magnification color photographs are needed to complete die-state confirmation across all three stages for this variety.
