Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1935 Peace Dollar is part of the Peace Dollars 1921-1935 series. With a mintage of 1.6 million, this is a scarce issue — the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features a youthful Liberty facing left wearing a radiate crown, designed after sculptor Anthony de Francisci's wife Teresa and the reverse displays a bald eagle perched on a rock above the word PEACE, with rays of sunlight. The final year of the original Peace Dollar series. Only Philadelphia and San Francisco produced coins. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $87 to $978 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7378.
