Description

Cataloged as UVC-0027 and DMR-003 in the VarietyVista system, the 1935 Washington Quarter DDO-002 exhibits light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST. Struck in 90% silver, the standard composition for pre-1965 Washington Quarters, this variety's die stage progression documents three stages: Stage A is an unconfirmed early die state. Stage B advances to mid-die-state with a light die crack across the bust and a die crack down the eagle's right wing extending to the Q of QUARTER. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. The IN GOD WE TRUST motto, positioned above Washington's head, provides the diagnostic area for the light spread. The Stage B die cracks across the bust and down the eagle's wing to Q of QUARTER create a prominent cross-side die-state pattern, with the wing crack's extension to the denomination being particularly distinctive.
