1930-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

The 1930-S Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-001 is an S/S North repunched mintmark variety cataloged by VarietyVista under codes UVC-032 and DMR-002, with the cross-reference FS-501. The mintmark was first punched and then repunched to the north, creating a secondary impression below the final position. Stage A represents the early die state (EDS). Stage B is the middle die state (MDS) and is distinguished by two diagnostic features: a die scratch running southwest through the U of TRUST, and a second die scratch beneath the O of OF. Stage C is the late die state (LDS). The 1930-S Lincoln Wheat Cent was struck at the San Francisco Mint during the early years of the Great Depression, a period when mintages contracted sharply.
