1930-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-010
Error
Description
Attributed in the Wexler RPM Files under 1930-S 1¢ WRPM-010, this San Francisco Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent repunched mintmark was documented with photographs by John Bordner. RPM varieties are categorized by the characteristics of the secondary punch impression: its cardinal direction relative to the primary S, its degree of offset, and any specific portions of the secondary S that remain visible after the primary punch covers or distorts the initial placement. WRPM-010 carries its own distinct set of these characteristics, differentiated from WRPM-008 and WRPM-011 through the reference photographs. The decade of the 1930s was a transitional period for Lincoln cent collecting, as the series was still actively accumulating variety documentation. Contemporary variety research was in its earliest stages, and the systematic RPM catalog applied to 1930-S by the Wexler team is largely a product of decades of subsequent collector scholarship. John Bordner's photographic documentation contributions apply a consistent imaging standard across multiple 1930-S RPM entries, aiding direct visual cross-comparison between adjacent catalog numbers.
