1930-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-003

Description

Documented by VarietyVista, the 1930-S RPM-003 Lincoln Wheat Cent carries die markers UVC-034 / DMR-004 tracking three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS with a die gouge dot to the left of the first T of TRUST and the reverse at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The gouge near TRUST serves as a compact but reliable identification marker in the motto area. Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1930 during the early months of the Great Depression, this cent is 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams at 19.05 mm diameter. Victor David Brenner's Lincoln portrait has appeared on the obverse since 1909, and the wheat ears reverse continued through 1958. San Francisco's 1930 output was approximately 24.3 million cents.
