1928-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Bearing the primary RPM designation for the 1928-S Lincoln wheat cent, RPM-001 is cataloged by VarietyVista with universal variety code UVC-020 and die marriage record DMR-003. This variety shows a triple-punched S/S/S mintmark displaced to the northwest and north, with three distinct impressions visible under magnification. Three die stages trace the die's working life. In Stage A at early die state, the triple secondary mintmark is clearly evident while the reverse has reached mid-die state. By Stage B, the obverse has advanced to mid-die state and the reverse to late die state. Stage C in late die state shows only a double secondary mintmark as continued striking has worn away the faintest of the three impressions, while light die cracks have developed north from each wheat tip in very late die state.
