Description

The 1927 (D) Standing Liberty Quarter is a quarter produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Standing Liberty Quarters 1916-1930 series. With a mintage of 976,000, this is a scarce issue — ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 7% of production. The obverse features Liberty standing in a gateway between two walls, holding an olive branch and a shield and the reverse displays an eagle in flight. The 1927-S is a semi-key date, especially in higher grades. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $30 to $410 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5762.
