Victor David Brenner's Lincoln cent portrait shows an extra eyelid below the primary eyelid on WDDO-004 of the 1927-D issue, placing this variety in the popular extra eyelid sub-category of Lincoln wheat cent doubled dies. What distinguishes this variety's die markers from most other extra eyelid DDOs is the unusual mintmark position: the D is set very low, directly under the 2 in the date, providing a distinctive secondary diagnostic that aids attribution independently of the eyelid doubling. Denver struck approximately 27.2 million wheat cents in 1927, a moderate output during the series' middle production era.
