Description
Light spread on the braid, date, and lower feathers characterizes this first-cataloged DDO for the 1927 Denver Buffalo Nickel. Die markers: UVC-114, DMR-005. Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed). Stage B: Die clash under chin at MDS, reverse MDS. Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed). The die clash under the chin — from opposing dies striking without a planchet — creates distinctive marks that help identify specific dies. Fraser's elaborate braided hair and feathered headdress show the hub displacement as widened braid and doubled feather contours. Denver struck about 5.73 million in 1927. Cataloged by VarietyVista.
