Description
The 1926 Sesquicentennial Half Dollar is a commemorative half dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 141,120 examples. Issued in 1926 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of American independence, this coin was sold at the Sesquicentennial International Exposition in Philadelphia. The obverse features conjoined busts of Presidents George Washington and Calvin Coolidge, representing the first and contemporary presidents, while the reverse displays the Liberty Bell, a symbol of American independence. Designed by John Frederick Lewis. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9374. The unique distinction of featuring a sitting president alongside George Washington makes the Sesquicentennial Half Dollar a historically significant piece. With 141,120 in the final distribution, it remains moderately available.
