Recognized as a Top 50 Peace Dollar VAM — a distinction reserved for the most significant and collectible varieties in the series — VAM-2 was discovered by Jeff Oxman in May 1991 and documents dramatically doubled olive branches on the 1925 San Francisco Peace Dollar. Classified as II 1 - B2b (Doubled Olive Branches) with rarity ratings of I-3 for interest and R-3 for scarcity, the reverse die designated B2b shows doubled olive branches and leaves on the left side, along with a doubled left leg feather and rays below the eagle's tail in Anthony de Francisci's high-relief design. The obverse die II 1 is described as normal, meaning the doubling is confined entirely to the reverse — a genuine hub doubling event during die manufacture. San Francisco struck approximately 1.61 million Peace Dollars in 1925, one of the lower mintages in the series, which contributes to the variety's collectibility.
