Description

Recorded by VarietyVista, the 1925-S RPM-006 Lincoln Wheat Cent displays S/S Rotated CCW (counterclockwise), a tilted repunched mintmark where the secondary S is angularly rotated. Die markers UVC-1174 / DMR-009 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at EMDS with a strong die clash from the mintmark below the M of UNUM on the obverse; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). The mintmark-to-obverse clash is notable, as it documents a die-contact event that transferred the reverse S mintmark onto the obverse. Struck at San Francisco in 1925 in 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams at 19.05 mm diameter, this cent represents mid-1920s production when mintmark application remained entirely manual.
