The primary mintmark is positioned further west than on WRPM-001, a diagnostic detail that immediately separates the two RPM varieties for this date. Repunched mintmarks on 1920s Lincoln Cents reflect the era's manual mintmark application process, where a hand-held letter punch was positioned on the working die and struck with a hammer — a technique inherently susceptible to misalignment requiring correction via a second strike. The southward displacement indicates the first punch impression landed slightly south of the intended position, and the correction punch was applied at the proper location, leaving traces of the initial impression visible below the final mintmark.
