Description
This 1925 (D) Lincoln Wheat cent displays three small rim cuds on the obverse, positioned counterclockwise of 3:00. Multiple discrete breaks along a short arc of the same rim record a die that was failing at several adjacent points rather than losing one continuous section. Each small cud formed independently as its section of rim fractured and separated, and the spacing between them preserves the intact rim that survived between the fracture sites. The clustering of three breaks in a single quadrant marks the obverse die as heavily fatigued at the time these coins were struck.
