Description

Documented by Brian Raines in June 2006, VAM-1AW on the 1923-D Peace Dollar is classified II 1 · B2a, I-3 obverse rarity and R-6 reverse rarity — placing this reverse among the scarcest in the 1923-D Peace series. A substantial die crack originates at the denticles in the lower rear of Liberty's neck, runs through the T, R, and V of TRVST, continues above ST, and terminates in a wide raised field break above VST at the right rim. The breadth of that field break above VST is the most arresting feature and distinguishes VAM-1AW from other 1923-D crack varieties at a glance. The 1923-D Peace Dollar is a 90% silver Denver Mint issue. The Peace Dollar uses the motto TRVST. The R-6 reverse rarity makes VAM-1AW a notable find for Peace Dollar specialists. =#Top1923-D VAM-1AW Die Break Above VST= Discovered by Brian Raines, June 2006. 1AW II 1 · B2a (Die Break Above VST) I-3 R-6 Obverse II 1– Die crack from lower rear of neck thru TRV and above ST to right rim with wide break above VST.
