1921 Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1921-01
Error
Description
ADC-1c-1921-01 Below is an apparent atypical clashed die example on a 1921 Lincoln Wheat Cent that shows the C from CENT left of Lincoln, it also appears to show parts of the IN from UNITED strongly clashed behind Lincoln’s head as well as a ghost of a possible O from OF. There are possible clash marks in front of the face and near the bowtie. The example sent in for study unfortunately was cleaned as well as has lamination (woody) issues and these issues are either detracting from an otherwise great die clash or perhaps exacerbating it by masking damage to the surface in the area of the clashed part of IN in UNITED. The reverse has a nice outline of the back of Lincoln’s head. A better example should shed on light on this particular clashed dies – if you find such an example please message or email me (Jason Cuvelier). This die was found by Cliff Reuter
