Description
1921-D VAM-1AE1 Die Break Top Inside 2nd S Discovered by Jim Hart, November 2001 1AE1 IV 1 · D2a (Die Break S Top Inside) (189) Reverse D2a– Die crack thru tops of STATES letters with die break at top inside of second S top loop. Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle’s right leg, between eagle’s left wing and body and in middle of eagle's left wing. Polishing bands at top and to left of eagle's right wing on late die states. Die marker - Diagonal die scratch between 6 & 7 outer feathers in eagle's right wing. DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: EDS known with 38° CW rotated reverse. June 2008 update: This VAM may be a middle die state of 1921-D VAM-1DC. 1921-D VAM-1BF may be a later die state.
