1921-D VAM-1AD Beanie S - Die Break S of STATES Discovered by Jim Hart, 2001 (Desirability: image:star3.gif) 1AD (revised) IV 1 · D2a (Die Break S Top Left, Scribbling Die Scratches) (189) Obverse IV 1– Some left and right stars tripled to quadrupled towards rim. Reverse D2a– Die crack thru top of TES of STATES with die break at top left of second S. Die break further left than VAM 1G. Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg and between eagle's left wing and body. Die marker - Vertical die scratch from top right berry opposite olive leaves DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: In the VAM-1AD variety, there is a die break on top of the 2nd S of STATES. This “Beanie S” break looks like the letter is wearing a small beret. Much like other 1921-D die breaks, this coin has die cracks running along the top edge of the letters.
