Description
A quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1918 Standing Liberty Quarter belongs to the Standing Liberty Quarters 1916-1930 series. The U.S. Mint produced 14.2 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 4 variants, accounting for 33% of the year's production. The obverse features Liberty standing in a gateway between two walls, holding an olive branch and a shield and the reverse displays an eagle in flight. The 1918/7-S overdate is one of the most famous and valuable quarter varieties in U.S. numismatics. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $36 to $324 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
