Description
1900-S VAM-3A Wide Over Narrow S Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. 3A III2 2 - C3c (Wide Over Narrow S) Obverse III2 2 - Reverse C3c - Same die as 1900-S VAM-3 (identical die cracks) except narrow IV S mint mark was repunched with wide V S mint mark and shows as a vertical line on left outside of upper loop and a thick spike on right outside of lower loop. Comments: A herd of numismatists has been actively searching for the 1900-S VAM-3A coin for decades now to no avail. While LVA clearly had "something" to photograph - nothing matching the photo has been found to date. I have included some pictures below of the VAM-33 - these make me wonder...
