Error
Description
Discovered by Brent Fogelberg in March 2005, the 1900-S VAM-19 Morgan Dollar is classified 19 III2 1 with a C4/C3b reverse. The reverse carries the 2 Olive variety — a full extra olive to the right of the olive connected to the olive branch. Additional details include slight doubling of the top edge of the middle arrow shaft and outside edge of the right wreath leaves opposite AR. The gap between eagle's neck and wing appears to be the C3 narrow type. A wide V-shaped S mint mark is centered and upright. Catalog commentary notes the top inside of the second 0 in the date is tripled — not mentioned in the primary description but noted on the discovery piece — suggesting this characteristic may not be consistently visible across all specimens. The mintmark is well centered but slightly high. San Francisco struck 3,540,000 Morgan Dollars in 1900, a lower-mintage issue where any die variety carries inherent scarcity. The 2 Olive type connects this variety to a broader family sharing the distinctive extra olive feature.
