1898-O VAM-16 Doubled Second 8, O Set high, Die scratches Neck Discovered by Martin Field, August 1981, Revised July 2019. Revised May 2023 16 III2 11 - C3b (Doubled Second 8, O Set high) (181) Obverse III2 11 - Second 8 doubled at bottom inside of upper loop. Doubling becomes indistinct in later die stages. Reverse C3b – Medium O mint mark set high and upright. Couple of light die scratches left and right of eagle's neck DPIS - C3/RE4 Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Pre-clash die stage of VAM 16A, which is former VAM 4A
