Description
1897-O VAM-6 Near Date, High O Tilted Right, Doubled Left Wreath Discovered by Edwin Miller, January 1970. 6(revised) III23 · C3e (Near Date, High O Tilted Right, Doubled Left Wreath) (181) Obverse III2 3– Date set further left than normal. Reverse C3e– III O mint mark set high with tilt to right. Slightly doubled middle leaf in left wreath clusters, upper inside of wreath bow and middle leaf in right wreath cluster above AR. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The mint mark position shown in the VAM book is high & centered, while 1897-O VAM-15 is set closer to the left ribbon & w/ a stronger tilt. Check coins attributed as VAM 6 to make sure they're not VAM 15.
