Description
1890-S VAM-20.1 S/S Lines, Doubled Arrows Discovered by Martin Field, April 1981. Revised 02/2016 Tmanhg 20 (revised) III2 1 - C3l (S/S Lines, Doubled Arrows) (190) Obverse III2 1 - Die 1- Date lateral position slightly left of middle of normal position. Die marker - Numerous diagonal polishing lines in upper bar of E in LIBERTY. Occurs with earlier die state of reverse. Reverse C3l - IV S mint mark re-punched mint mark with original showing to right of upper serif, broken line in upper part of upper loop on EDS and diagonal line below middle bar. Arrow shafts and feathers doubled at bottom edges. DPIS - Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse:1890-S VAM-20.1, 1890-S VAM-20.2, Comments: Reverse die 1 & die 2 share the exact reverse die paired with 2 different obverses. The reverse die had some work done on it sometime between the 1890-S VAM-20.1 EDS and the 1890-S VAM-20.2 LDS as a good deal of details was removed. Very similar cracked forehead found on 1890-S VAM-1B, 1890-S VAM-1G, 1890-S VAM-10F, 1890-S VAM-20.1, 1890-S VAM-38, 1890-S VAM-45. While unlisted - Liberty's chin is doubled.
