1889-O VAM-20A Slanted Date, Clashed Obverse O, Reverse Weak E Discovered by Jeff Oxman, March 1998. Revised 2004. This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM. 20A (revised) III2 12 ∙ C3a (Slanted Date, Clashed Obverse O, Reverse Weak E) (181) Obverse III2 12 - Clashed die at top with partial incuse O of O mint mark from reverse showing above right wheat leaf. Reverse C3a - Normal, but clashed die at bottom with weak partial raised E from LIBERTY showing below eagle's tail feathers on left side. Only top back & faint middle serif of E shows. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Later die state of [[1889-O VAM-20. Exceedingly rare in all grades. # Not all clashed VAM-20's are VAM-20A. Subsequent action by the mint removed the E reverse. This stage is listed as [[1889-O VAM-20B.
