1888-O VAM-1J Buffed Reverse Discovery 12/16/2014 by Brian Raines 1J III21* C3a (Buffed Reverse) (181) Reverse C3a - Buffed die with shadow outline of eagle, around legend letters and both wreath leaves. Raised dot pitting around edges of eagle, legend and motto letters and both wreath leaves. not much die wear lines at periphery. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: '''LVA Comments: # Pretty SEVERELY BUFFED reverse on 1888-O. Unlisted buffed reverse w/ shadow outline around letters, wreath & left side of eagle, similar to [[1891-O VAM-19. Also has die chips around edges. Maybe mint workers polished die excessively in an attempt to remove die rust pitting on it. no significant die dblng, breaks or gouges. Normal date & mm position.
