Description
1882-P VAM-10 Doubled 82 Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. 10 III2 10 ∙ C3a (Doubled 82) Proof Obverse III2 10 – 82 in date is doubled. Second 8 is doubled strongly on left outside of upper loop. 2 is doubled slightly on left side of shaft. Reverse C3a – Listed as normal die. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Proof reverse die. Bubble on D of DOLLAR. This proof reverse was used only to strike proof coins from 1879 to 1901. JLEE 3 reverse dies were used. 1100 Proof coins were struck this year. Typically they can be found in mid AU to high Uncirculated condition. As of 3/2014: PCGS poulation is showing 295, NGC 252 & ANACS has 50 attributed. Less than half of the 1882 PF strikings have been idetified by the "big 3" TPG's.
