Description
1880-S VAM-16 Doubled 8 Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. Revised August 2022 16 III2 12 ∙ C3ah (Doubled 8) (188) Obverse III2 12 – Die chip on right between the loops of the first 8 of the date. Second 8 doubled on left bottom outside of upper loop. Reverse C3ah – Normal die with medium IV S mint mark. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: This reverse die is shared with 1880-S VAM-16, 1880-S VAM-16A, 1880-S VAM-120 & 1880-S VAM-104. This variety develops a die chip inside the G of God. (*Duplicate Alert - see VAM-104.*)
