Error
Description
VAM-32 on the 1879 New Orleans Morgan Dollar was discovered by Herb Zepke in June 2000 and is catalogued as 32, obverse III2 24, reverse C3k, die pair 176, with the attribution: Doubled Left Reverse. A tiny amount of doubling is present at the top and back of the Phrygian cap on the obverse — a subtle obverse feature accompanying the more prominent reverse doubling. A die marker on the obverse consists of a single long diagonal polishing line running through the middle of the cap band, serving as a reliable confirmation marker for this specific die. The reverse C3k classification documents same-hub doubling, indicating that the doubling originated at the hub level and was transferred identically to all working dies made from that hub — a hub-level rather than die-level variety in the reverse.
