Description
1879-CC VAM-4 Doubled Right C in Mintmark Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, May 1973. 4 III2 1 ∙ C3d (Double C) (178) Obverse III2 1 – Die chip on the left between the loops of the first 8 in date. Closed 9 variety Reverse C3d – V CC mint mark shifted to left with large spacing between C's. Right C is doubled on left inside. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: Reverse look for right C in mint mark doubled on left inside. Obverse has a die chip on the left side of the 8. Closed 9 variety and this coin has 2 die gouges downward from Ms. Liberty's nose. Need to compare with other 1879-CC VAM-4' s on die gouges. Gouges not mentioned in VAM book.
