Description

1878-CC VAM-11 Lines in Wing Discovered by Clarence Brown, February 1966. This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM. 11 II3 - B2b (Lines in Wing) Obverse II 3 – Normal die of 1878 P Type II with broken point off number 4 star on right (a hub defect). Reverse B2b- Heavy lines at the bottom of the eagle's right wing and in the middle of left wing. CC mint mark at medium height and tilted slightly to right. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: [[1878-CC VAM-11 :Reverse: [[1878-CC VAM-11 Comments: # This interesting variety has deep die gouges throughout the reverse. The most noticeable is on the left side of the eagle as you look at it forming a "Z" shape in the lower wings. Gouges also crisscross the other wing with a cluster up in the top third region.
