Description
Judd-327, Pollock-379, is another proof dime pattern from the extensive 1863 series, featuring a distinct die combination from preceding varieties. This piece contributes to the comprehensive record of dime design experimentation during the Civil War years. The Philadelphia Mint's Engraving Department under James B. Longacre prepared numerous die pairs during 1863, each testing specific modifications to the dime's obverse and reverse designs.
