Description
The 1829 Capped Head to Left Quarter Eagle represents a Philadelphia Mint issue from the Capped Head to Left Quarter Eagles 1821-1834 series. With a mintage of 3,403, this is a scarce issue. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a cap with curls of hair beneath and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Reduced-size production continued with a modest mintage under 4,000. Estimated market value ranges from $7.6K to $31K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 91.7% gold, 8.3% copper, weighing 4.37 grams, 18.2 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7669.
