Description
A cent from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1795 Liberty Cap Cent - Reeded Edge belongs to the Liberty Cap Cents 1793-1796 series. The obverse features Liberty facing right with a Phrygian cap on a pole behind her head, symbolizing freedom and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT and 1/100 of a dollar. Lettered Edge and Plain Edge varieties exist. Multiple Sheldon die varieties cataloged. One of the more available dates in the series. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding.
