Bearing the prestigious CC mintmark of the Carson City Mint in Nevada, this 1875-CC Seated Liberty Dime carries a reverse rim cud — a major die break where a section of the reverse die fractured away at the rim, leaving a raised, featureless plateau on every coin struck afterward. Carson City operated from 1870 to 1893, primarily processing silver from the nearby Comstock Lode, and its coins are among the most sought-after mintmarks in all of American numismatics. The Seated Liberty Dime design, created by Christian Gobrecht and introduced in 1837, features Liberty seated on a rock holding a staff with a Phrygian cap, with the reverse displaying the denomination within a wreath. The "Mintmark Below Bow" designation indicates the CC mintmark is positioned beneath the wreath bow on the reverse — the standard placement for this design type during its 1837-1891 production run.
