Description
ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-16 This tilted die clash is found on a 1960D small date Lincoln cent. The clash marks are found on both the obverse and reverse dies. Not only was the clash tilted, but was also rotated 5° from the horizontal plane. The overlay shows the relative positioning of the dies when they did clash. 3 / 1 The above picture shows the clash marks left by the letters STATE of STATES. The second picture shows the clash mark left by bottom of the bust as it passes through the word STATES. The next picture above is a magnified overlay showing the actual position of the reverse die when it clashed with the obverse die.the reverse die when it clashed with the obverse die. The obverse die has a minor RPM with the mintmark showing a lower split serif. The O of ONE has developed die cracks across the top of that letter.
