2023 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-014
ErrorDescription
Class VIII, Tilted Hub Doubling is the classification assigned to this 2023 Philadelphia Jefferson Nickel doubled die reverse. The characteristic tilted-hub displacement shows above the top step below the center door of Monticello and across the tops of the letters T, I, C, E in MONTICELLO, where the secondary impression is shifted at a slight angular offset relative to the primary. The doubling pattern on WDDR-014 closely resembles that of 2023-P WDDR-013; however, none of the die markers present on WDDR-013 appear on this die, confirming these are distinct working dies. Die Markers — Obverse: die dots and a crack on Jefferson's chin; die gouge below the S of TRUST. Reverse: die cracks on the dome; die dot above the left arch; die gouge to the lower right of the S of PLURIBUS; die dot above the second T and the E of STATES. Cross-referenced as Wexler 2023-P WDDR-014. Attributed by Brian A. Ribar.
