2022 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this 2022-P Dr. Sally Ride Quarter from the American Women Quarters program exhibits hub doubling on the reverse. Die markers on the obverse: WMDO-001, a die crack across the back of the mouth, a die gouge in the mouth, and many small die gouges around IGWT including between N in IN and G in GOD, in the lower opening of E in WE, right of R in TRUST, and right of U in TRUST. Reverse markers: WMDR-001, a die gouge in Q in QUARTER, between U and N in UNITED, touching top right of T in UNITED, and between L and U in PLURIBUS. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 2022-P 25-cent SR WDDR-001. Struck in copper-nickel clad at 5.67 grams and 24.26 mm at Philadelphia. The Dr. Sally Ride reverse, honoring the first American woman in space, makes this a first-year program variety with both thematic and numismatic significance.
