(indicating this variety was documented before full catalog numbers were assigned), the 2021-D VDDR-004 Lincoln Shield Cent displays light spread north on central banner stripes 7 and 9 of the Union Shield reverse — a subtle but diagnostically confirmable doubled die reverse where the hub displacement produced visible doubling limited to specific stripe elements within the shield design. Three die stages are documented: Stage A at early die state (EDS, unconfirmed); Stage B at mid-die-state showing a light die crack and small die chip on the left upper shield edge along with a die crack in the upper hair and on the forehead; and Stage C at late die state (LDS, unconfirmed). The progressive die crack development from Stage A through Stage B provides collectors with secondary identification points beyond the doubling itself — specimens showing the forehead and hair die cracks can be confirmed as Stage B or later strikes from this specific die pair. The 2021-D Lincoln Shield Cent was struck at the Denver Mint in copper-plated zinc composition — 99.2% zinc core with 2.5% copper plating — weighing 2.50 grams with a 19.05 mm diameter.
