2019 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-004

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team as Wexler Variety ID 2019-P 25¢ GU WDDR-004, this doubled die reverse variety is found on the 2019 War in the Pacific National Historical Park quarter from Guam, part of the America the Beautiful series. Doubling shows near the top of the large soldier's backpack on the reverse design depicting American soldiers advancing through Pacific jungle terrain. On the obverse, a die gouge touches the inner left leg of the A in QUARTER, die gouges appear in both openings of the E in QUARTER, and a die gouge sits right of the bottom of the O in DOLLAR. On the reverse, a short die crack extends northwest from the helmet of the far soldier, a die gouge marks the bottom of the middle square of the tank, two die gouges appear in the water above the LU in PLURIBUS, and a die gouge is in the water between the front soldier's gun and the palm area. The War in the Pacific quarter honors the World War II Pacific theater campaigns through its Guam reverse design. ATB quarters are clad coinage.
