CU-1c-2019-01 Cud

Description

CU-1c-2019-01 is a cud error on the 2019 (P) Lincoln Shield cent, catalogued by Cuds on Coins and entered in the record on July 18, 2023. Cuds form when a portion of the die breaks away at the rim, leaving a raised featureless blob at the coin's edge where the broken die segment no longer impresses design detail. On this example the break is on the obverse. The Lincoln Shield cent reverse, introduced in 2010 to mark the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth, features a union shield motif designed by Lyndall Bass.
