The Cedar Hill scene on the reverse renders Douglass seated at his writing desk with PEOPLE'S RIGHTS inscribed on the podium, a design whose fine detail across the figure, furnishings, and text creates multiple receptive surfaces for hub-doubling effects. Each WDDR attribution in this series represents a distinct die pair, identifiable through unique combinations of die markers on both obverse and reverse that fingerprint the specific dies used. The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C., preserves the home where Douglass lived during his final seventeen years, and this quarter design captures the scholarly setting where he wrote and received visitors.
