2015 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-007

Description

Carrying the VarietyVista designation DDR-007 (UVC-2262, DMR-008), this 2015 Philadelphia Bombay Hook National Park Quarter from the America the Beautiful series displays a medium spread to the south, manifesting as extra blades of grass on the upper strip of the reverse landscape. Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, located in Delaware, is depicted with migratory birds and marshland grasses—natural elements where southward hub displacement creates the illusion of additional vegetation growth. Three die stages are cataloged for this variety. Stage A represents early die state, unconfirmed. Stage B is mid-die state, also unconfirmed. In Stage C, the reverse reaches late die state with die chips developing on the bust area around the designer's initials. The grass-blade doubling is a distinctive diagnostic that sets this variety apart from other ATB quarter doubled dies, most of which show doubling on inscriptions or architectural features rather than landscape elements. Collectors should examine the upper grass band on the reverse under magnification, looking for the telltale extra blades that indicate the southward hub spread.
